Imation Begins Shipping Trimatic Modular Advanced Processing System

CHICAGO - (December 1, 1996) -- Imation Corp. (NYSE:IMN) has begun shipping the 3M™ Trimatic™ Modular Advanced Processing System by Imation™. This new compact and light-weight system simplifies film handling and processing, and increases productivity through faster film processing.

The Imation™ Trimatic™ Modular Advanced Processing System features seven active film modules for greater film-handling flexibility. It processes most common film sizes and can switch automatically to different processing cycles. Higher productivity is achieved through the processor's 45-second cycle. With a new, simplified cassette opening and closing mechanism, cycles times are shortened by up to 25 percent. It can handle 240 35 x 43 cassettes per hour.

The Imation Trimatic Modular Advanced Processing System has a small daylight unit footprint. It also offers a through-the-wall kit for convenient darkroom film loading.

The processor slides out the front of the unit without the need to disconnect drains, wires or other supplies. This offers additional site flexibility, including the ability to install two Trimatic Modular Advanced Processing Systems side-by-side or back-to-back for additional productivity.

The front-loading processor features make the system easy to operate. With all operating information on the front panel, controls are easily accessible. Cassettes are inserted into the front of the unit, and film is returned to the front. Because electronics, dryer and pumps are accessed from the front of the Trimatic system, the unit is easy to service.

The system's control panel features menu-driven controls that drive the entire Trimatic system, including the processor. The control panel is designed to automatically switch processor speed when necessary, such as when it recognizes that a Mammography cassette has been introduced. It permits connection with maintenance PC, either direct or via modem for remote diagnostics.
